A collaboration between celebrity stylist Tracy James and designer Joseph La Grand, Tracy James Resort offers swimwear that easily transitions from the beach to brunch, sunning to shopping, or even day to night.
Having traveled extensively and noticed the limitations of most swimwear, James and La Grand sought to create a line that is both innovative but wearable. The swimsuits have been designed with special light-weight fabrics that dry quickly in the sun, and the styles favor a woman who may want to show a little less skin yet still remain sexy. In selecting their color palette, James and La Grand opted for chic neutrals that would tie in well to women's preexisting wardrobes. As James notes, "You can go from poolside to dinner and drinks with the simple addition of a pair of skinny jeans or a pencil skirt."
After developing a creative chemistry via a ten-year friendship and working relationship sharing several celebrity clients, it was only fitting that James and La Grand would partner for a passion project such as this. As a stylist, James has her finger on the pulse of what is hot - or lacking - in fashion, and La Grand helps to bring those ideas to life. He explains, "Tracy is the muse for the feeling of the collection, and I do the technical design and draping. We conceptualize the creative direction together based on Tracy's trend forecasting."
Tracy began her career in fashion as a model at the early age of fourteen and had a very successful career that spanned over a decade. Her love of design eventually led her to assist numerous celebrity stylists , where she learned to trust her instincts and not to be afraid of taking risks. She then ventured on her own to work with clients such as Kirstie Alley, Audra McDonald and Zoe Saldana with her work appearing in People Magazine, People en Espanol, Ladies Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, Essense, and, currently, on "Kirstie Alley's Big Life" on A&E.
Joe's design background came from recreating and reconstructing amazing vintage pieces that he collected from various LA vintage stores he worked at. He then took design and tailoring jobs from various celebrity stylists to create clothing and costumes for musical tours, music videos and red carpet appearances. Since then his clients have included Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Zoe Saldana, Ginnifer Goodwin and Melissa Etheridge. He has worked several years on highly prestigious award shows such as the Grammys, the Oscars and the MTV music award and has had his clothing featured in Rolling Stones, Details, The Source and Maxim magazines.
Both have been living and working in Los Angeles for over a decade now. They continue to create swimwear for women who share their carefree attitude and sense of adventure.
